Alrighty, so I decided that the 302HP valve springs I had weren’t going to work, at least not for my comfort level. I talked to the shop that built my engine and they recommended the Comp Cams 903-12 springs. They’re designed for a Ford 240/300 inline six. Closed pressure is 80 lbs @ 1.70” installed height, open is 212 lbs @ 1.25”, rate is 293 lbs/in, coil bind at 1.125”, OD 1.40”, ID 1.015”. When I had the shop swap them, they said my installed height is 1.63”. I guess I measured it wrong earlier somehow. That’d be why the 302HP springs didn’t work, as they were supposed to be installed at 1.68”. I checked these with a solid lifter and I think I had 0.080” total clearance or something. I don’t remember the exact number now and the info is at home. Anyway, these should work fine.
