Back to the 3.03 transmission

I changed back to the 3.03 transmission, 9” flywheel, and associated parts last Monday and Tuesday. I was getting tired of the slipping clutch, it grinding into gear, and the shifter jamming. The 3.03 didn’t want to line up at all this time, but I eventually worked it in. My vibration is definitely worse than it was with the 2.77 transmission and 8.5” flywheel setup. I’m not sure which part is making it so much worse though. I’m kind of tempted to just drive it like it is for awhile and then eventually just make a bunch of changes, eg a new flywheel, maybe a T5 transmission, 8” rear end, and so on… I’ll have to get that figured out somewhat soon heh.

When I pulled the 8.5” clutch out, I was pretty surprised to find that I had managed to actually break it though. One of the springs was completely out of the disc, and I found it in two pieces stuck in the pressure plate. I’m taking it that’s what caused the slight change in the clutch pedal feel a few weeks ago. One of the other springs had some scoring on it, too. I don’t have any idea what caused them to get messed up. I was definitely having to slip that clutch a lot and it had a lot of chatter, so maybe it just had too much wear on it.
